Hi, my name is Tianchi, but please call me Yoii.
I was born in Shanghai, raised in Shenzhen, and later moved to Los Angeles to study design. After graduating from Otis College of Art & Design with a BFA in Graphic Design, I continued my academic journey in Japan, where I am currently exploring design from a broader systems and human-centered perspective
My background moves between graphic design, communication, and social systems research. I am interested in how people express emotions, build relationships, and interact with the environments around them. Through visual language, storytelling, and systems thinking, I try to design experiences that are not only functional but emotionally meaningful.
To me, design is more than aesthetics.
Every typeface, image, color, interface, and interaction carries intention. Design shapes the way people feel, behave, communicate, and remember.
Outside of research and design, I am someone who is constantly observing daily life — conversations, cities, objects, human behavior, and quiet emotional moments that are often overlooked.
